I've been thinking about this a lot lately also in terms of emotional labor, although that may seem unrelated. How men are often excused from engaging in emotionally difficult conversations in a healthy way, because they 'just aren't good at emotional stuff'. And I, like you, have been thinking, well how nice would that be? To just have zero expectations for being able to cope with emotional things like a healthy adult.

It's getting exhausting, hoisting around all the things women are meant to shoulder for men....
