Absolutely. The double bind of expectations that we face could fill a novel, honestly. At this point in life, I'm old enough to have very nearly almost stopped caring about most of it, but as child encountering it for the first time with a developing sense of critical thinking was especially jarring. Sadly, I think we just get used to it over time.
